It was a nice day out, but what actually changed?
Organisations hold a lot of meetings. Team days get planned, training days get filled and away days get booked. Sometimes they deliver. Often you leave with the feeling that it was a nice day, but nothing much has really changed.
That makes sense, and it has nothing to do with unwillingness or lack of skill. When a team runs its own day, it tends to fall back into familiar patterns. The things that need saying stay unsaid. The things that need to come out feel too uncomfortable. And before you know it you’re back to “thinking about an approach”, with no breakthrough in sight.
An outside facilitator gets you there faster
That’s why an outside facilitator is no luxury. We run training days, away days and team days that are about something. We bring calm and direction, and we make room for everything that needs to be said. Where it helps we add structure, and where things get tense we slow down. So the team doesn’t just talk, it also chooses, learns, listens and moves.
What we have experience with
✓ Team days on collaboration, communication, trust and responsibility
✓ Taking stock when there’s a new manager or a new direction
✓ Reflecting on workload, job satisfaction and safety
✓ Translating the vision into behaviour
✓ Teams where “something is going on”, but nobody can quite put their finger on it
And yes, we make sure it stays light and enjoyable too. No therapy, no heavy going. Just a day that gets under people’s skin and gets them moving. If there’s something in your team that everyone feels and nobody says, have a look at our workshop on unwritten rules as well.
